An unsolicited and extremely low automated offer.

Sorry for the sideways picture, IE at work and Kinja don't mix. Nor does editing a post.

I’ll give you $7612 for it

Call the guy, make him spend time trying to sell you on letting him buy the car off you and then at the very end when he thinks you’re ready to sell. Tell him to go fuck himself with a cactus.

Once again KBB is WAY off. I don’t know how anyone gives it an ounce of legitimatcy. AT BEST it’s a tool to rip off consumers at trade-in.

I’m currently away in Afghanistan, so a representative will arrive at your place of residence to transfer the requisite funds in exchange for the item.

Pretty much my reaction, I literally laughed out loud when I read that.

I will offer you $7750. There, I overbid them.
Seriously, how desperate does one have to be to bite on these offers?
Perhaps that is what they are trolling for. If I got a letter like that, I would never want to trust anything this company was saying.

That's a lot of effort and while I am that horrible of a person, I don't have that kind of motivation. I already dislike this dealer so I'll continue to avoid them if at all possible.

So, Robert, are you going to contact Robert about this? Eeesh. I know there are two Robs involved here, but it comes off as surreal. Also, contact by May 31st before the value drops? Exactly how much is a fourteen-year-old sports coupe going to depreciate in a month?

Does that mean my 2003 is worth 8,500?

ALL the depreciates!

If it’s clean and a manual, I’d say it’s worth more than 7k.

It’s definitely hired out to a separate company from the dealer. We would receive them for my wife’s TDI “from” a totally different dealer from this one but with the same fake handwriting.

I’d venture to bet that you, and really all of us, would be surprised.
I imagine it happens much less so with owners of cars like M3s, since I would think that they’re generally a bit more cognizant of the automotive/dealer world, but still probably happens to idiots. The older I get and the more people I meet, the more I realize that the World is full of idiots.

A.I.s are going to ruin car buying for everyone.
CraigslistBot: I’ll give you $500 for it. Don’t argue with me, I can get one just like it for $200 less. Look buddy, I’m trying to do YOU a favor. The least you could do is meet me half way.

I get those for the wife’s Grand Cherokee 2, 3 times a year. They aren’t from the dealership we purchased it at. What makes that funny is that the salesman at the dealer that IS sending those letters told my wife “you can’t afford that” when she asked to look at an Overland. Obviously, we went elsewhere for the purchase.

Where are these M3s for 7k of which they speak?
![]() 05/24/2016 at 17:53 |

They usually do this in hope you’ll come in and trade your car in for a new one.

Lol!
You should call/email them back with a legitimate offer backed by private sale values and see what they think, but under 8k? I hope they know that isn’t going to work lol.

Man, if M3s were worth anywhere that kind of price, Id be all over it!!
Does Kelley’s Blue Book have any idea what the fuck they’re doing? Calling KBB for an apraisal “Hey, that Ferrari 250 GTO of yours?? Yeah, it’s an old car, was worth 25000$ when sold new... We’ll say it’s in good condition: 432$”

You can say that again.

They don’t do too bad a job for high volume cars but collector/enthusiast cars, not so much. They simply don’t know or understand the difference in value between an SMG and a 6 speed for example. Ignore all of them for enthusiast cars but check them out if you were looking for a 2012 Impala.

You know if you were dumb enough to bite and sell to them for that price they would make one hell of a profit when they turn around and sell it.
Before the value drops? Lulz
